An original 1954 EC Comics pre-Code horror issue from the final years of EC’s legendary New Trend era. The Vault of Horror #38 was published for August–September 1954 and features a classic Johnny Craig cover with colours by Marie Severin.

Johnny Craig also edited the issue, with Bill Gaines credited as managing editor. One standout story is “Any Sport in a Storm”, scripted by Carl Wessler with art by Craig and colours by Severin.
