Why It Matters
Star-Lord’s first appearance in traditional comic-book format makes this a collecting milestone for Peter Quill fans. His original debut was earlier, in the black-and-white magazine Marvel Preview #4; this issue retells his origin for the comic-book readership. It is the original 1980 issue, not a modern facsimile. The Sienkiewicz/Rubinstein cover adds further appeal for collectors of Bronze Age Marvel artwork.
